Overview

[18F]MNI-815 is a radiopharmaceutical positron emission tomography (PET) imaging agent developed as a tau protein tracer for use in the diagnosis and research of Alzheimer's disease and other tauopathies. It is designed to bind selectively to aggregated tau protein in the brain, enabling visualization and quantification of tau pathology via PET imaging. The compound was evaluated in early-phase clinical trials for its potential as a diagnostic tool but was ultimately replaced by more advanced tracers due to suboptimal performance. The primary developer was Molecular NeuroImaging, which later became part of Life Molecular Imaging (formerly Piramal Imaging).
